Two Americans walk into a pub in a small town….
My traveling partner and I enjoy beer… So of course we wanted to see the home of Samuel Smith while we were nearby. We took the bus out from York. We were glad to see this pub was open. It was about 3pm.
Beer was fabulous, The men that were in there were friendly (I think) lol.
I think they were a little surprised to have strangers from America drop in.
It was very local .
it was difficult at times to understand their English, we just mainly behaved ourselves and drank a few beers.
We got a little bit of local information about the brewery and things about pub ownership and management etc. Which is very different from the United States.
The beer was extremely delicious! The atmosphere unique and I would definitely stop by again if I was in that area. Absolute gentleman running it.

Groovy little pub with a buzzing atmosphere. While I was stood at the bar, one of the locals appeared with a pint glass full of excrement and asked the barman to top it up. The barman happily obliged.

Only 3 weeks ago did I try my first samuel smith pint and oh my god, love is a real thing. But the one place I have felt truly welcome in is this pub. I came here from scarborough with my grandad to see the breweries. Not only are you greeted with a smile, but Bob really makes you feel like part of the atmosphere. He's very chatty and listens to your life stories without a bored look in his eyes like you get from bog standard "I'm only here to make money" establisments. Sam smith pubs are by far my favourite, and while I'm writing this review on my phone, I happily left it in my bag on silent to enjoy the banter and chat going on with the punters. 100% recommended and well worth the 2 and half hour bus journey here for a few pints and actual none robotic chats!

Very quaint small pub. A very good pint of Sam Smiths bitter and a Taddy Lager for just £4.30p and all the while just straight across from the John Smiths Brewery, but less said about that the better 😎

Not my favourite pub in the area, but a charming one. You won't get a more authentic taste of Tadcaster, but it's not exactly a pretty pub to be in. Functional, friendly too, though lacking somewhat in the sort of ambiance that a tourist might expect, but that a local has no need for. I certainly wouldn't want for it to change, though I feel I may be suited better to other pubs in the town.
